Kyrie Kowalik

Kyrie Kowalik grew up in NH where she began her training as a gymnast at the age of 2.  In high school she switched into dance where she found her true passion. She competed at competitions across New England before co-founding Community Entertainment of NH, a nonprofit organization that worked with dancers across the state to bring performances to nursing homes, community events and provided additional competition experiences to dancers who may not have had the opportunity elsewhere.  It was during this time that her love of choreography and teaching began to develop.  She continued to hone this passion during her time at Allegheny College where she performed and choreographed for Jazz Dance Ensemble, Orchesis Dance Company and the Allegheny Dance Team, while also teaching and choreographing for Studio 83.  After completing her bachelor’s degree, she began teaching at Miss Kelsey’s Dance Studio  where her students have won various awards at competitions and conventions throughout New England, including musical theater achievement of excellence and most entertaining.  She continues her training through Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway and also participated in Tracie Stanfield’s Construction Company and Urbanity’s Underground Company.  Kyrie’s teaching is heavily influenced by her participation in the Danscend Council, an organization that focuses on the whole dancer including a priority for mental health.  She is also acrobatic arts module 1 and 2 certified and has a PhD in Global Studies.  Overall, Kyrie aims to provide students an opportunity to explore different types of movement in a supportive space while also continuing to develop a strong technical foundation in her classes.
